In the past, social sites like Facebook were thought of as a means for kids to communicate with each other online. With more than 400 million active users and 1.5 million businesses on Facebook, it is time to realize that you, too, can grow your Internet business with Facebook. It may take a little time, but the end result will be worth it.

The first step in growing your Internet business with Facebook is to create a Facebook Page. A Page is basically a profile of your business and it can easily be used to help you create an identity or brand for your business. When a Facebook user clicks the Like button on your Page, they will start receiving updates on your Page. If you update your status, upload pictures, or make any changes, they will be alerted.

When you create a Page for your business, the first thing you will be asked is what your Page is about. The choices are a local business, a brand or product, and an artist, band, or public figure. You must now choose which is going to be your best way to market your business. Do you wish to promote your business as a local business or do you think that promoting your main product or your brand is going to give you the best results?

After the above decision is made, you can then fill in the relevant data on your business. It will include contact information, including a place to include your business website domain name, and basic information about your business. Along with the basic information, you will be able to upload
photos, videos, and notes about your business. This, however, does not need to be done immediately and can be done at your convenience.

Of course, the next step is to promote your Page and get people to click on the Like button, so they can receive your updates. One great way to do this is by holding some type of contest. All it takes is for someone to hear the word “Free” or “Contest” and you will have them. For best results, make sure the product you are giving away is something that is enough to lure them in.

After you have acquired a generous amount of fans, don’t give up. Marketing your business with Facebook requires that you update your status regularly. Logging on to your Page every week or so is not going to cut it. You need to stay active in your marketing and keep the fans interested. The more active you are will result in more visits to your actual website and, potentially, can lead to more sales.

As with anything, there are certain things you do not want to do on your Facebook Page. First, be very careful in what you upload. All it will take is one little curse word or one option and you can lose a lot of your potential customers. Keep things professional and remember that personality doesn’t mean personal opinions.

If you own an Internet business and you are not using Facebook to promote it, you are missing out on a lot of potential customers. The thing to remember is that 1.5 million businesses are using it already. Many of these could be your competitors. If you want to grow your Internet business, create a Facebook Page for your business today.
